The following lesson plans are supplementary to the main Connect curriculum and are designed to fulfil the full range of UK statutory guidance for RSE and Health Education for KS1/KS2. For each lesson plan there is a suggested ‘term’, however these lessons can be taught at any point in the school year.

  • How to recognise early signs of physical illness, such as weight loss, or unexplained changes to the body.

  • The facts and science relating to immunisation and vaccination

  • About menstrual wellbeing including the key facts about the menstrual cycle.

Social Media

This Lesson is designed to be delivered to Year 5 children (ages 9-10) and addresses the following DfE (2019) statutory outcome:

  • Why social media, some computer games and online gaming, for example, are age restricted.

First Aid

This Lesson is designed to be delivered to Year 5 children (ages 9-10) and addresses the following DfE (2019) statutory outcome:

  • Concepts of basic first-aid, for example dealing with common injuries, including head injuries.

Mental Ill Health

This Lesson is designed to be delivered to Year 6 children (ages 10-11) and addresses the following DfE (2019) statutory outcome:

  • It is common for people to experience mental ill health. For many people who do, the problems can be resolved if the right support is made available, especially if accessed early enough.
